- 新進気鋭の振付家・ダンサーの、作品発表・実験の場であること

We are excited to announce the 6th Fukuoka Dance Fringe Festival.
Fukuoka Dance Fringe Festival has grown both in size and in the quality of works presented since the inaugural festival in 2008.Nevertheless,it still strives to fulfill its original mission to provide
- A venue where choreographers and dancers can experiment
- A stage where new and diverse works of dance are enjoyed and studied from many perspectives
- A meeting place for choreographers, dancers, and others with interest in the performing arts

「福岡ダンスフリンジフェスティバル」が6回目を迎えます。ダンスを愛するみなさまからの有形無形のご支援に、こころからお礼を申し上げます。
最近、自然には実にたくさんの踊る気配があるような気がしてきました。われわれ人間も百人百様、千人千様、そして日々万様、自然や社会とさまざまにつながりながら踊っているのかも知れません｡そして、滑稽な妄想かもしれませんが、人間が生き抜いていくために、とてつもない喜びの素がカラダの約60兆個あるといわれる細胞の一つ一つに秘蔵されていて、これを使い切らないともったいないなと思えてきました。
いま、もっともっと踊りに、ダンスに近寄りたいと思います。ダンスは、豊かな人間性の発露であり、機智と努力の結晶。魂消る驚き、深い喜び、無垢の魂に触れる大いなる安らぎをくれるものと信じています。これから「福岡ダンスフリンジフェスティバル」は、さらにダンスを多角的に楽しめるユニークな時空になることを目指していきます。是非、みなさまのご支援を、今後ともよろしくお願い申し上げます。

Fukuoka Dance Fringe Festival is celebrating its sixth year. We thank dance-lovers from the bottom of our hearts for their moral and material support that has made this possible.
Recently, it occurred to me that nature is permeated with a sense of dance. It may be that we as human beings, despite the incredible diversity in our ways of being, are also dancing, hand in hand, through our various connections in nature and society.
Call it a flight of fancy, but I imagine seeds of joy lying dormant in every one of the supposedly 60 trillion cells of the human body--joy to help us survive and flourish. I feel it would be a terrible waste not to bring every one of these seeds to full bloom in our limited time.
Recently, I have found myself wanting to become ever closer to dance. Dance is the manifestation of the abundance of one's humanity and the crystallization of wit and effort. Dance also opens us to experiences of self-losing wonder, deep joy, and great peace of mind through the encounter of souls in their purest form.
As Fukuoka Dance Fringe Festival moves forward, we aim to further evolve as a unique space where dance can be enjoyed through a multitude of facets. Please allow us to take this opportunity to express our gratitude and hope for your continued support and encouragement.

06年にNYジャパン・ソサエティの招聘で滞米研究。07年イタリア『ジャポネ・ダンツァ』の日本側ディレクター。『コンテンポラリー・ダンス徹底ガイドHYPER』（作品社）、『どうせダンスなんか観ないんだろ!? 激録コンテンポラリー・ダンス』（NTT出版）、『ダンス・バイブル』（河出書房新社）他著書多数。
福岡ダンスフリンジフェスティバルこそは、ソウルが誇る二つのフェスティバルと連携している、日本で唯一のフェスティバルである。猛スピードで進化し続ける韓国ダンスの最先端をそれぞれのフェスティバルからチョイスして、毎年見ることができるなどという贅沢な機会は、福岡にしかないのだ。
そもそも出演者に対して交通費を助成するという発想が素晴らしい。当然、日本中から、我こそはという人々が集まる。その雑多な魅力が大切なのだ。「コンテンポラリー・ダンスってこんな感じでしょ」と、わかったような顔した連中がハダシで逃げ出すような、真の威力あるダンスが、ここに集まる。
しかもその「交通費」が、韓国をはじめとするアジア各国まで、日本国内と同じ感覚で支払われるというあたり、「アジアに近い、福岡という地の利」をまざまざと見せつけてくれるではないか。
今後はさらに福岡全体を巻き込んで、日本の顔、アジアへの顔に成長してくれるに違いない。

Fukuoka Dance Fringe Festival is the only Japanesse dance festival that collaborates with Seouls's two greatest dance festivals. FFDF picks two works from these festivals every year, and brings home to Fukuoka a precious opportunity to glimpse the cutting edge of a rapidly evolving Korean dance scene.
FFDF's idea of subsidizing travel cost is fantastic. Naturally, this draws eager dancers from all over Japan, and the variety this brings to the festival adds to its charm. The diversity and sheer impact of every piece could easily knock the socks off of an unassuming viewer.
This subsidy is equally provided to dancers in Korea and all over Asia, which is proof that FFDF is taking full advantage of Fukuoka, a city known as Japan's gateway to Asia.I look forward to FFDF becoming the hallmark dance festival of Fukuoka, of Japan, and of Asia.
